Creating!

I have a confession to make... I'm a full blown hypochondriac. If you don't know what that is... it's basically a person who hears about an illness or disease and then worries themselves into believing they have it.

I'm a social worker, and a big part of my job is going into peoples homes. Well, the flu has been everywhere lately and so many of my clients have been infected that I've started to get...... paranoid. I literally sat in my room last night wondering if I really and truly felt nauseous or if I was just imagining it. My boyfriend and I came to the obvious conclusion that I was "acting crazy" so here I am today, working and feeling fine. No flu here as of yet!

Anyway, not only am I really good at making myself believe that I'm sick when I'm not, but I'm also really good at turning old things into new things. I thought I would share a few of my recent creations...

Yarn covered wine bottles. I wish I had a friend who was planning a wedding, because I think these would make cute centerpieces!

An old coffee table that I thrifted for $30. I wrapped the top in fabric and painted the legs a nice purple. It's a very girly piece and I'm in love with it.

A desk that I found on the side of the road and spray painted. This literally took 5 minutes to transform.

And my favorite piece of furniture in my entire apartment - an old dresser that I painted a bright teal. Our whole bedroom was decorated around this piece, and every time I look at it I smile!

My goal this year is to finish more pieces like the ones above, and even do some custom pieces for people who want to spice up their old furniture. Eventually, I would really love to do this full time. But for now, it's something fun that I do for myself and I'm happy with the progress. If you're in the Richmond area and have something that you would like painted for a really great price, shoot me an email and we'll chat about it!

  1. I need a new side table - I'm having difficulty deciding what color I want it to be. I presume I'll thrift it, and transform it - wanna go thrifting this weekend? Saturday?
